K-5 Literacy Coach |
Hello! My name is Mrs. Clarissa Barnett and I am currently the Literacy Coach at Milton East Elementary/Northside Intermediate in Milton, WI. It's the 2019-2020 school year and this year I am beginning my 14th year! Below is a bit about me.
After serving as an intern at Clinton Elementary School in Clinton, WI in 2006, I completed my undergraduate work and graduated from UW-Whitewater, with a minor in special education. In Janesville, WI, I taught first and second grade for seven years as a looping teacher at Kennedy Elementary School. I then served as a Reading Specialist at Randall Consolidated School in Burlington, WI before starting here in Milton. In 2008 I completed graduate work and received my Administration and Supervision degree from National Louis University. I also completed course work for my Reading Teacher license from Concordia in 2013 and earned my Reading Specialist license in 2014. In 2015, I completed the training necessary to teach Reading Recovery. Most recently, I studied at Edgewood College in Madison, completing a year-long Instructional Coaching Credential Program. Prior to teaching in the elementary grades, I was a Lead Teacher at The Learning Depot, a child care facility in Whitewater, WI. In addition, I was a Line Therapist for Integrated Development Services, where I taught skill development in the areas of behavioral regulation, social interaction, communication and daily living for children with autism. I have also served as a chapter president for an international organization called Best Buddies. This organization is dedicated to enhancing the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities by forming one-to-one friendships with college students. bestbuddies.org/
